Holy Cow- It's the last day of May! For families with elementary-aged children, May is the new December. Much like the holidays, there are approximately 783 fun activities and celebrations this month which culminate in one giant Grand Finale (the end of the school year). We feel like we have sprinted through May (figuratively and literally), so it is fitting to highlight our little runners this month:
The kids once again participated in their school's Running Club this spring, which prepared them to run in a 5K/Fun Run this month. Here's our proud first grade flag holder with the one-mile fun run crew and some of her best friends:
I ran with Leah, and could barely keep up with her, as she shaved over 2 minutes off her time! Luke also finished within 30 seconds of his goal for his 5K, and Go Far was a wonderful experience for both kids this spring. We absolutely love our Oak Ridge family, and are part of such an incredible community, filled with awesome parents, coaches, teachers, and friends.
Another running event for L&L this month was their annual Oak Ridge Derby. This fundraiser challenged the students to run 30-35 laps to raise money for their school. Here's Peanut's sweet class and some action shots of her running in the Derby. We love her fierce determination!
Leah also had a speaking part in the Seussical the Musical this month. This first grade music performance was adorable, and our brave girl had no jitters this year!
Leah's proving to be quite a Renaissance Gal, as she enjoyed doing crosswords with Grandpa while he was here. These two were just too cute snuggling, and I couldn't resist taking a picture of them together:
Meanwhile, our Music Man had his spring piano recital on May 5 and played his three pieces beautifully. The icing on the cake was that Aiden was in the same recital... AND there was a taco bar and pinata afterward. Such a fun way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!
Both kids also concluded their spring soccer seasons this month, and Luke's team played in the end-of-season tournament, which included high emotions and lots of excitement. We have loved their soccer teams this year, and look forward to soccer camp this summer.
We also celebrated May with a birthday party at the roller skating rink this month. It's been a couple of years since the kids skated, and Luke is now taller than me when he is wearing roller skates:

We wrapped up May with a fun trip to Williamsburg for Memorial Day weekend, where the kids swam in Bean and Poppy's pool, played miniature golf, and we went to Busch Gardens. Leah decided to try every roller coaster that she was tall enough to ride, and both kids did a roller coaster with "loops" for the first time (and LOVED it!).
As May comes to a close, we're beginning our single digit count-down til the end of the school year (9 days left!) and we'll surely continue our race to summer vacation with lots of fun and fanfare!
