Our Princess

 

 

Leah attended her first princess-themed birthday party this weekend, and I believe we now have an official princess in our midst.  Leah has never been one to be overly excited about princesses, girly costumes, or glitter.  She much prefers playing cars or super heroes with her big brother.  However, 4 is the perfect age to believe in the magic of princesses, and in preparation for our upcoming Disney cruise, we have attempted to introduce various characters to her over the past few months.  So when Leah chose to play with all of her Disney princess figurines last week, I was thrilled:

 

Since we were on a roll with the princess theme, Leah dressed up her royal dog in a "necklace" and crown that she made.  Sweet Winnie just took it all in stride:

 

The next day, there was a tiny frog on our porch, and our little princess was equally enthralled with him, talking to him and telling him that he could be her "pet".  At least she didn't kiss him...yet.

When we recently received an invitation to a birthday party of twin classmates (addressed to "Princess Leah" and full of pink princess confetti), Leah was excited.  At the party, our princess had her nails painted for the first time: 

 

she had her make-up done,

and her hair professionally styled by none other than "Belle" (from Beauty and the Beast):

Each little girl chose a costume and began their magical transformation into Disney princesses.  While we were waiting, there were crafts and games:

Of course there was a castle piñata!

 

The little princesses posed with Belle and then participated in a fashion show, complete with a red carpet and Mom & Paparazzi taking numerous photos:

 

The ladies then had a tea party with real china (I applaud the confidence of that Mom), and enjoyed treats and cake:

 

As we left, Leah exclaimed, "Mommy, that party was AWESOME!", and she donned a sparkly tiara and sunglasses the entire way home. 

 

 I'm a princess rock star, Mommy," she declared.

 

Yes, sweet girl, indeed you are!
