March Merriment

March was extra special this year, as we seemed to go straight from St. Patrick's Day to Easter!  Of course, there was lots of "everyday" fun in between, but we love holidays in our family, and the kids were excited to don their green.:

Each year, L&L make a leprechaun trap in hopes of catching one of those mischievous creatures.  This year, they almost caught a leprechaun, but instead they were left with a pile of green & gold coins.  The leprechaun was kind enough to make breakfast, too.  He somehow dyed our bagels green and put shamrock sprinkles in the kids' yogurts.  Mark took one look at the green smoothies and muttered, "Wow, these kids are lucky...", and I told him that it was all a matter of opinion 😉.

 This month was also filled with March Madness in our house.  The kids filled out their brackets and enjoyed watching the NCAA tournament.  This is one of those activities that gets more and more fun as the children get older.  We love their enthusiasm, and they knew more stats about the players and teams than I thought was possible! 

We're in the midst of spring soccer season, and Leah was beside herself with excitement when she realized that she played against two of her closest friends earlier this month.  Josie Kate and Leah are in the same class this year, and are called "the twins" because of their similar hair cuts, blonde hair, and blue eyes: 

 Gracyn and Leah have also become good friends this year, and it's fun to watch Leah find close girl buddies.  These friends all play multiple sports and aren't very "girly", so they are a perfect fit for Peanut.  

The last week of March was filled Spring Parties and Easter preparations:

I know I mentioned chess in last month's post, but on the last day before Spring Break, the Chess Club concluded its annual Chess Tournament.  This sweet little first grader was one of only 7 students in the school who won every single game/made it to the finals!  Once again, we are wowed by Leah.  She was ambivalent about being in the tournament when it began in February, and ended up filling in for someone who didn't show up in the first round.  Leah quietly flew under the radar each week winning each of her games, and she is so unassuming and humble.  After spring break, she'll compete in a bracket-style finals round for a spot at the Greensboro Chess Club's Scholastic Tournament in April.  We're proud of you, Leah!

We dyed Easter Eggs and had tons of fun at our church's Easter Egg Hunt last weekend, where we saw the Easter Bunny and found lots of goodies.  

What a great way to end March, with egg hunts and lots of holiday fun!
