Super Hero Party!

Our little Super Hero celebrated his 5th birthday with his friends on Sunday with a fun party held at Sportsclub Kids.  When Luke told me that he wanted a Super Hero party this year, I went all-out with this theme.

There were the invitations:

Handmade Super Hero masks:

Goodie bags for guests:

And even buckets of super hero pops for centerpieces:

Of course we carried over the star and "Super Luke" logos to the cupcakes, as well:

The party was absolutely perfect.  We had 18 children come to celebrate Luke's birthday with him, and our birthday boy loved being the center of attention.  The staff at Sportsclub Kids was amazing, and engaged these active preschoolers in gross motor activities, relay races, obstacle courses, and parachute games, all with a Super Hero theme. It was a high energy, exciting party with many fun things to do, and at a great facility.

Leading up to his birthday, Luke repeatedly told us that the only thing that he really wanted to do was to have a pinata at his party.  I took him to Party City to pick one out, but was not thrilled about the idea, as I was picturing 5-year-olds swinging sticks dangerously at each other.  However, Mark talked me into it, and I will happily say that I was wrong in my hesitation.  The pinata worked out beautifully, with each child taking one controlled swing, and super star Luke being the one to actually break open the pinata on his second turn.  Candy flew everywhere, and the squeals of joy from those children and beaming smile of pride on Luke's face were priceless:

As we sang "Happy Birthday" to our new 5-year-old, Luke soaked it all in and blew out his candle, with this hint of a smile on his face:

A special activity for the guest of honor at Sportsclub Kids is to add their handprints to the Birthday Wall, which lists their name and party date.  Luke chose his own paint colors and took this Super Hero responsibility very seriously:

What a wonderful day we had with Super Luke and all of his friends.  It truly was a party fit for a Super Hero!

Looks like Super Luke and his friends had a blast. It's hard to believe Luke is already 5!
