Zoo Atlanta

 

 

A couple of weeks ago, we took a day trip to Zoo Atlanta, and met our friends who live in GA.  This zoo has been on our to-do list for a long time, and we were excited to finally have a nice, sunny day for our zoo adventure with the Deckert family.  Zoo Atlanta is quite a bit larger than our zoo in Greenville, and we enjoyed seeing many different animals.  One favorite was the kangaroo exhibit:

I asked L&L to stand like the flamingos here. They were thrilled, as you can see:

Luke entertained us throughout the day by reading each of the informational plaques in front of each animal enclosure.  He would inform us where each species ranked on the endangered list (common, vulnerable, endangered, extinct in the wild), and often would share factual tidbits:  "Guys, this species lives an average of 70 years!".  I think we have a future zoologist in our midst! 

The petting zoo at Zoo Atlanta was another big hit, and the children loved brushing the animals:

A new addition to the zoo was the splash park and fountains.  We packed bathing suits and the kids had a blast cooling off and playing in the water:
