1. The sight of your sweet toddler girl in a brightly colored, spring smocked dress will elicit oohs and ahhs from wistful moms of boys at church on Palm Sunday:
2. This same adorable child will be cooperative for all pictures, and will methodically and carefully collect and count her loot at the Sunday School Easter Egg hunt, which is very fortunate...
3. ...Because the only pictures that you will get of your kindergartener are these. Apparently, the 5-8 year old egg-hunting division is much more competitive and relies on speed as a major strategy, with a secondary goal of eluding all parent paparazzi:
4. You will be amazed at how easy and fun it is to dye Easter eggs this year with older children. No one will spill, attention spans will be longer, and it will no longer a two parent activity that requires close, direct supervision.
5. You will scour the local Parent magazines and websites in search of an opportunity to have your children's pictures taken with the Easter Bunny. When you finally find an appropriate, free event, you will plan your Sunday afternoon around it, and will drive 20+ miles to another town to find the EB. You will be thrilled at the idea that your children are just the right ages to still believe in the magic of this mythical character, yet old enough not to burst into tears in his lap... And you will walk into the much anticipated Easter event, glance at your husband (who has raised eyebrows and is trying very hard not to laugh), and you will convince yourself that this weird, creepy creature is EXACTLY what you had pictured in your head, teeth and all:
6. You will coordinate your children's outfits to perfectly match their Easter baskets: Pink polka dots for your daughter (and a shirt with a picture of the Easter Bunny on it), and blue plaid shorts for your son. You will smile at the adorableness of it all... and then this will be the best picture that you have of your children together. Some things never fail...
7. You will realize that all of the above are just cute, silly tidbits to remember about our family Easter festivities this year, and you will look forward to a fun-filled Easter week ahead!
