The morning after our last home football game/the end of marching band season, we boarded a plane for Arizona. The kids have a mini fall break each year with two teacher work days, and last fall, we really enjoyed our trip to California. In an attempt to finally see the Grand Canyon (because the third time's a charm, right?), we decided on Arizona as our 2024 Fall Break destination.
(A refresher for our blog readers: We had planned a Spring Break trip in 2020 to the Grand Canyon that was cancelled due to COVID, and then tried again in 2022, but had to cancel that trip due to my breast cancer diagnosis/treatment.)
Our trip almost didn't happen, as Leah had a nasty fever virus the week leading up to our departure. The pediatrician tested her for everything and assured us that as long as she was fever free 24 hours before we left, that she was not contagious and it was ok to fly. Although her fever broke, Peanut was still not back to normal and needed a lot of downtime and rest during our travels.
After landing in Phoenix, we drove our rental car to our home base in Sedona, where we had booked a Pink Jeep tour. While waiting for our tour, we got smoothies and enjoyed the beautiful views:
Our Pink Jeep tour was the Broken Arrow and Scenic Rim Combo, and it was a wild adventure! Leah and I sat in the back, and it was a bumpy, crazy off road ride!

The scenery was beautiful and our jeep stopped at several points so that we could walk around and explore:
It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and learn about the history and landscape of this special place. Sedona, we love you!
