It was a weekend of big milestones, as Luke's 18th birthday and prom fell within two days of each other. Luke was unable to attend prom last spring since he was rowing at a travel regatta, so we were all relieved that this year there was no conflict with dates. This sweet group of friends took pre-prom photos together, went out to dinner, and had a blast at Summerfield Farms before returning to our house for their after-party. We saw so many people that we knew at the Bicentennial Gardens taking pictures, and it was a gorgeous backdrop and gathering spot:
Zach & Georgia, Bruno, Kiley & Luke
Avery, Leah, and Maddie
Viking Band/Guard friends
On Sunday, we celebrated our birthday boy with breakfast at Mimi's house, presents, dinner, and cake:
Sousaphone cake made with love by our band director's wife
Luke's birthday was on Monday, and he had a full day of school and rowing. He asked me if I could bring cupcakes to practice for him to share with his team. It felt like such a gift to celebrate my baby's 18th birthday this way, and a full-circle moment for me as his mom, having NCRC/oar-themed cupcakes made for his last birthday at home:
Happy 18th birthday, Luke! We love you!
